We start our day at Sakura-no-baba Josaien, a cultural complex at the foot of Kumamoto Castle. Next, we visit the magnificent Kumamoto Castle, one of Japan's most impressive and well-preserved castles. We'll explore its grand architecture, learn about its rich history, and enjoy the beautiful views from the castle grounds. Our journey then takes us to Yanagawa, known for its picturesque canals. We'll enjoy a relaxing boat ride along the waterways, surrounded by charming scenery and traditional buildings, making for a serene and memorable experience. As night falls, we head to Mount Inasa for a breathtaking view of Nagasaki's nightscape. Our day begins in Nagasaki where we will visit several historically significant locations. The first stop will be the Nagasaki Peace Memorial Park, a symbol of peace and a testament to the horrors of war. The Peace Statue sits at the epicenter of the atomic bomb blast. The right hand points up to symbolize the bomb, while the left hand points toward future peace. The statue's bent right leg symbolizes meditation, while the bent left leg represents the need to stand against war. The closed eyes offer prayers and respect for the souls lost in the devastation. For lunch, we will enjoy local favorites champon and sara udon, both noodle dishes that originated in Nagasaki. Next, we will head to Glover Garden, which exhibits Western-style mansions. After viewing these gorgeous mansions, we will continue to the Oura Catholic Church. The Oura Catholic Church is Japan’s oldest standing Catholic church and was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Site list as part of the Hidden Christian Sites in the Nagasaki Region in 2018. Our journey continues to Imari in Okawachiyama Village, famous for its high-quality Imari porcelain. Here, we'll explore pottery shops and learn about the traditional techniques of ceramic craftsmanship. We conclude our day in Fukuoka, exploring the vibrant Nakasu district. Known for its street food, Nakasu offers a lively atmosphere and a chance to sample delicious local delicacies. |
