Sumida River Hanabi Festival

Sumida River Hanabi Festival is one of the most popular fireworks festival held in Japan annually. It's said to have started during the Edo period in 1733. 8th Shogun Yoshimune mourned the victims of the plague and famine and raised the fireworks to wish to dispel sickness. The first venue is from downstream Sakurabashi to downstream Kototoibashi about 9,500 fireworks will be launched. The second venue is from downstream Komagatabashi to downstream Umayabashi about 10, 500 fireworks will be launched. This year illuminated Tokyo Sky Tree will be perfectly matched with fireworks in the sky.
