It is dedicated to the legacy of Hiroshima as the first city in the world to suffer attack of an atomic bomb. Today there are monuments, museums, and lecture halls which over a million tourists visit per year.

Miyajima Island/Itsukushima Shrine is in the Island Sea and the home of Itsukushima Shrine built in 593 with its famed floating torii gate.
The size of the temple and the Buddha it houses is immense. It's crazy how the temple used to be even bigger before the Lightning striker that caused a fire centuries ago. Well worth the visit! - Tripadvisor
Todaiji Temple was completed in 752 with one of the largest bronze statues in the world. it has an imposing gate supported by eighteen 25m high pillars Blown down by a typhoon in 962, the gate was re-built in 1199.
