Beppu is a popular hot-springs resort town located in the central part of Oita, along the coast of Beppu Bay. Next to hot springs town of Hakone, Beppu is easily one of Japan's most famous hot-spring resorts, producing more thermal hot spring water than any other resort in Japan. Thanks to the constant stream of hot water spread around the city, Beppu onsen offers eight hot spring areas in addition to mud baths, sand baths, and steam baths. While walking around the hot-springs town, there are multiple free foot baths often situated close to an Onsen entrance, giving guests a sample of what kind of waters to expect inside. Like many of the most popular hot-spring towns in Japan, Beppu offers a wide range of baths for tour participants to enjoy during their stay in the city.
