Shinsaibashi is Osaka's largest shopping district filled with a great variety of shopping options and delicious street food. Running east of Mido-Suji Avenue, Osaka's Shinsaibashi has a history of over 370 years as a shopping area since 1622. The shopping area takes its name from the former Shinsaibashi Bridge that crossed the Nagahorigawa canal, and is a popular shopping district to this day. Tour participants exploring Shinsaibashi are bound to find various boutiques and smaller shops next to large department stores and popular chains. An attractive destination for tourists and locals alike, Shinsaibashi is split into multiple areas offering great shopping at reasonable prices. The roofed shopping arcade is lined with stores for guests of all ages, with various side alleys offering traditional goods and souvenirs in between the more popular clothing retailers.
