Kyoto Hozu River Boat Tour | Boat Tour Through Picturesque Canyons

Hozu River is a part of the Katsura River in Kyoto that stretches for 16km between Kameoka to Arashiyamna. While this river first was used to transport goods downstream from Kyoto to Osaka, nowadays guests come to the river to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Taking a boat tour has become a popular past-time through the picturesque canyon and over some rapids in Kyoto. The scenic ride takes about two hours and roughly seats twenty passengers while three boatmen power the boat with poles and oars. Boat tours are becoming more popular, with special options to enjoy depending on the season.

  • Spring - Cherry Blossoms are in bloom around the river
  • Summer - Azaleas on rocks
  • Autumn - Mountain leaves turn red and orange · rain past the canyon
  • Winter - Snowy Canyons can be seen from the Oshiki heating ship
Take a relaxing ride down the Hozu river and be sure to have your camera ready while passing through the natural side of Japan.
