Fuji Five Lakes is the area at the base of Mt. Fuji in Yamanashi. The five lakes were formed from lava flow from Mt. Fuji's eruptions. The five lakes are Lake Kawaguchi, Lake Motosu, Lake Sai, Lake Shoji, and Lake Yamanaka. Fuji Five Lakes is considered one of the best places to view Mt. Fuji. The area is famous for being a great fishing area and is a popular tourist spot. The surrounding area has many things to do ranging from the thrilling amusement park Fuji Q Highland to hot springs where you can relax and gaze at the iconic mountain.

Lake Kawaguchi, also known as Kawaguchiko, is the most accessible of the five great lakes and the most popular. Lake Motosu flows across from Aokigahara Suicide Forest and Lake Sai flows around the area as well. Lake Shoji is the smallest of the five lakes with a surface area of 0.5 km². Lake Yamanaka is the largest of the five lakes.
