As the name suggests, Yokohama Chinatown is a Chinese town within the city of Yokohama, Kanagawa. Yokohama Chinatown, also known as Yokohama Chukagai, is Japan's largest Chinatown, famous for its narrow colorful streets filled with shops, restaurants, and street food stands. When you enter, you will walk through a beautiful gate, and as you make your way through the street you will actually walk through 3 more gates, all with intricate designs. The most popular activity in Chinatown is probably the search for delicious, mouth watering street food. Here at Yokohama Chinatown, there is a great variety of Chinese street food available. Some popular choices include steamed buns, dumplings, and sesame balls. If street food is not your thing and you would rather dine in, there are several restaurants, serving delicious Chinese food as well. The restaurants usually tend to be pricier here if on a budget, but if you make your way out of the main area to a side street, you may find less expensive options. There is a great selection for souvenir shopping here as well, and the stores may remind you of the Chinatown here in the U.S or in New York.
