Nagano Azumino Wasabi Farm | Nose-Tingling Sensation

Azumino Daio Wasabi Farm, named after the plain in which it is located, lies between two mountain ranges to the west and east. The ranges of mountains on the western boarded are known as the Japan Alps and are popular among hikers all over Japan. One of popular product in Azumino is wasabi, Japanese horseradish. It is most famous in form of a green paste used as condiment for sashimi (raw seafood) and sushi. However, wasabi is also used for many other Japanese dishes. Wasabi is known for its nose tingling sensation.

Here at the Azumino Daio Wasabi Farm, fresh wasabi plants are grown and harvested to be used for cooking and meals. The farm is a beautiful location with a water wheel, fields of wasabi, and even a small shop where guests can try wasabi-flavored ice-cream. Because wasabi requires high quality, crystal-clear, pure drinking water, the plains of Azumino are perfect for harvesting the Japanese horseradish. If you or someone you know can't live without topping their sashimi with wasabi, be sure to pick up fresh wasabi from the source during your Japan tour.

Enjoy the surrounding scenery and taste the true flavor of wasabi by joining any of our Takayama Festival Japan Tours or Takayama Hidden Villages Japan Tour Package available year-round in Spring and Fall!
