Tottori Uradome Coast | San'in Matsushima

Uradome Coast is a beautiful scenic coastal inlet along the Japan Sea in Tottori Prefecture. The rocky coastline was created from marine erosion and stretches approximately 9.5 miles (15 kilometers) from Cape Kugami to Shichiyama. The coast is filled with distinctive natural sea walls, caves, cliffs, tunnels, and unusual rock formations in addition to the shimmering blue waters, pristine white, sandy beaches, and green pines. Many tourists flock to Uradome Coast to enjoy the scenery by kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, or hiking around the area. As a popular vacation spot well regarded for it's beauty, the coast has been designated one of Japan's best views in 1927, an Important natural Monument in 1928, and as an Important National Park in 1963. The coast is so popular, it's often referred to as San'in Matsushima for its resemblance to the island of Matsushima in Miyagi. It's recommended to ride a pleasure boat along the coast to fully enjoy the scenery during the Spring and Summer months.
