Begin your exploration at the elegant Shinkyo Bridge, the vermillion gateway to Nikko’s sacred world. Long regarded as a divine crossing between the human and spiritual realms, its refined curves and lacquered brilliance make it one of Japan’s most photographed heritage bridges. In the soft morning light, the contrast of cedar forest, river mist, and red arch creates an unforgettable first impression. Continue your journey to Chūzenji Tachiki Kannon-dō, a lakeside temple where faith and artistry converge. Here, you will take part in a hands-on juzu (Buddhist prayer bead) crafting experience, followed by a blessing ritual performed by the temple’s priest. Surrounded by the calm waters of Lake Chūzenji and the quiet dignity of the mountain sanctuary, this intimate encounter offers a deeper connection to Japanese spirituality—something no ordinary sightseeing tour can provide. Just moments away, witness the power and poetry of Kegon Falls, one of Japan’s top three waterfalls. From a sheer 97-meter cliff, water thunders into a mist-filled gorge, creating a dramatic scene that shifts with each season—emerald summer greens, scarlet autumn maples, and crystalline winter ice. An elevator ride brings you to the lower viewing platform for a breathtaking, front-row perspective. As afternoon settles over the highlands, transfer to your lakeside hotel on Lake Chūzenji. Check in, unwind, and let the stillness of the mountains replace the rhythm of the day.
