The Nagoya City Science Museum is a great science museum and is home to the world's largest planetarium. Located in Sakae, Nagoya, the museum can be easily seen by the large silver globe on its exterior which houses the planetarium. The starry skies are displayed through highly realistic celestial projections onto the dome screens. Projections vary each month according to the theme of the month and based on current astronomical phenomena.
The museum is split into three main sections on modern technology, life and general sciences housed in a seven-storied building. There are a mix of permanent and rotating exhibits featured in the museum, with the permanent exhibits offering interactive experiments and play for children and adults to enjoy. There are various labs to engage in, such as the Tornado Lab
, Deep Freezing Lab
, and the Discharge Lab
with hands on experiences. The museum recently renovated the building to keep up with the planetarium, and focuses on bringing more science and technology exhibits to coincide with the theme of future and advancement.
Although the museum has no English explanations, many tourists still enjoy their visits due to these hands on exhibits and amazing planetarium shows. Add the Nagoya City Science Museum to your vacation with Japan Deluxe Tour's affordable range of custom Japan tours and tour add-on's!
