Egg of the Sun | Miyazaki

Miyazaki is famous for their fresh, delicious, sweet and juicy mangoes. The tropical climate and high precipitation levels allows for great farming in Miyazaki, and among these produce are mangoes. Mangoes from Miyazaki are often referred to as eggs of the Sun and are known for their ripe sweetness. In fact, Miyazaki mangoes are subjected to rigid quality control standards and must maintain a minimum sugar level of 15% to be sold. As is the case with most fruits in Japan, mangoes can be rather costly and fetch a good sum. Mangoes from Miyazaki have reached hefty price tags before, sometimes going as high as $3,000 during the opening of the mango season. Just like other fruits in Japan, buying fresh mangoes at the start of the year can be rather expensive.
