This tree is an endangered species which only grows in certain locations and prefectures around japan.
The story of Nanja Monja goes like this... One day the Tokugawa Shogun and Mitokomon were in the garden. As they walked together, the shogun saw a big tree speckled with beautiful cream-colored flowers.
"What is that tree?" He asked Mitokomon.
Immediately, without knowing the answer to it, he blurted out
"Nanja Monja!"

and so the tree's name became "Nanja Monja"
