The World Tea Museum (Ochanosato) is located on Makinohara Plateau, one of the most famous tea-producing regions in Japan. The facility is composed of a dedicated museum to Japanese tea, a tea house, and garden. In the museum, 90 different types of tea from 30 countries in the world are on display. Travelers can learn about the various teas' production and history, as well as touch the leaves and smell the aroma. Given how popular tea is in Japanese culture, the World Tea Museum is a way to share the knowledge of Japanese teas while educating the populace about the tea from around the world. There also are exhibits on the history of Japanese tea and how it is deeply rooted in the lives of the people.
