Ashikaga Flower Park in Tochigi is a flower park known for its beautiful fuji or wisteria flowers. Ashikaga Flower Park is one of the few parks that feature wisteria flowers of multiple colors of blue, pink, and white. The park also features kingusari, or yellow laburnum, which look similar to wisteria flowers. The highlight of the park is the 100 year old fuji tree which forms a large umbrella of blue wisteria. Trees of white wisteria also form a different tunnel, popular among its visitors. Ashikaga Flower Park has a variety of flowers besides wisteria but those hoping to walk through the beautiful tunnels and umbrella of wisteria flowers should in the beginning of May when the fuji flowers bloom beautifully.
Ashikaga Flower Park has also recently become popular as an illumination destination in the winter time. Thousands of LED lights are hung from the lattices that the fuji flowers are supported on during the spring. The tunnels are also decorated and illuminated with lights transforming the wisteria tunnel to a gorgeously lit light tunnel.
