Tokyo Happoen-Garden | Garden of Eight Views

Happoen Garden in Minato, Tokyo, Japan is an exquisite garden hidden in the busy city of Tokyo. "Happoen" means garden of eight views and describes the beauty of the garden that can be enjoyed from all angles. The garden has preserved the beauty of Edo Japan through centuries and maintains its historical buildings. The buildings and nature such as hills and streams intertwine and create a perfect balance of old and new.

Happoen Garden has its own tea house, Muan which offers two types of tea ceremony experiences: tencha and otemae. At tencha, you are served green tea with a wagashi. At otemae, you learn how to prepare, serve, or enjoy tea. At Muan, traditional Japanese matcha green tea is served.

The garden can be enjoyed during all seasons and provides a different experience during each. During the spring months, cherry blossoms fill the garden and is a stunning sight. The hot summer months bring about life to other flowers. Warm colors and leaves in the autumn creates a gorgeous view. Winter when snow fills the park is a completely different sight then all the other seasons. Happoen Garden truly can be enjoyed from not only eight angles but all angles and during all seasons.
