About Chusonji Temple

Konjikido

Konjikido was built in 1124 by Fujiwara no Kiyohira, the founder of the Oshu Fujiwara clan. Although Konjikidō has suffered many crises of destruction, almost 90% of the structure and components used in Konjikidō since its construction still exist, thanks to the solidarity of the temple priests and various assistance, protection, and restoration over the years from the government and authorities of the time. In other words, even after nearly 1,000 years, it has remained as it was in bygone days! Chusonji Temple has many other historical buildings and exhibits besides Konjikido, so come and see for yourself!
