Kitaichi Glass is one of the top manufactures of glass products in Hokkaido. In addition to high quality glass production, Kitaichi Glass has a couple of stores on site and a museum displaying a variety of glass work. In addition to the museum, there's also a workshop to learn how to create glass and to watch the glass manufacturing process. Among the stores of Kitaichi Glass, the best is often considered to be the Sangokan store (Literally: Third House). The Sangokan is housed in an old stone warehouse built back in 1891 along the canal of Otaru. This store found great success during the mid-Meiji to Taisho eras, and continues to be a popular store thanks to the Otaru revitalization efforts. The glass from Kitaichi is considered some of the best around and is a treasure of Hokkaido.
