Sapporo Snow Festival is one of Japan's largest winter festivals and attracts approximately two million visitors. The festival features spectacular works of snow and ice sculptures that will leave you in awe. Sapporo Snow Festival takes place on three locations: Odori Site, Susukino Site, and Tsu Dome Site. The Odori Site is the main location and features some of the largest ice sculptures in Japan. The intricately designed, yet enormous sculptures and statues are absolutely breathtaking, bringing hundreds to tour Hokkaido every year.
In addition to complicated designs, the sculptures often feature pop-culture inspirations, including iconic anime characters, famous works of manga, Japanese samurai, comic book characters, and even Pokemon have been featured in past festivals.
The Susukino Site is located in Sapporo's entertainment district, in the midst of the buzzing town. Ice sculptures line the streets as you stroll along town. The Tsu Dome Site has a different vibe and rather than just sculptures, it also features snow slides and rafts where children and adults can enjoy the snow in a different way.
Before the snow festival ends, a committee picks a top sculpture out of all the beautiful designs. Looking for a fun winter vacation to spend with your family?
