Japanese-Style Chinese Dumplings

Japanese-Style Chinese Dumplings

Originating from China, Japanese shumai is a variation of the popular dumpling dish. Loved in Yokohama, shumai is considered a specialty of the area and can be found sold at various train stations. Japanese shumai is made of ground pork and scallops, often served with soy sauce and hot mustard. One of the most popular choices for quick and tasty shumai is from Kiyoken Shumai, which began serving shumai in Yokohama since 1859. These packaged shumai are ready to eat and can be easily identified from their bright red boxes. It's no surprise to see people walking around carrying a box in hand to take home to friends or family to enjoy, or to see people sitting and snacking on these delicious dumplings.
