Japan's Only Pear Museum | Tottori

Located in Kurayoshi Park Square, the Tottori Nijisseiki Pear Museum is Japan's only museum dedicated entirely to pears. The museum showcases the history about the Nijisseiki Pear and the history of pears expansion and migration from China. Visitors can learn how pear cultivation has expanded over generations, as well as Tottori's unique history growing pears. The museum features hands-on workshops including arts and crafts using pear flowers and more. Be sure to visit the museum gift shop before you go to get pear products like pear cakes, tea, and paper. There's also merchandise based on the museum's mascot, a Japanese Nashi Pear. The museum recently was renovated to include information on the English Yellow pear in 2018. Stop by the new exhibit before heading over to grab pear ice cream next door to the museum.
