The Mori Art Museum in Roppongi Hills of Tokyo was founded by real estate developer Minoru Mori in 2003. Housed in the 53rd floor of the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower in Roppongi Hills, this complex houses an impressive rotating collection of art and exhibits. The museum is considered one of Japan's top contemporary art museums and exhibits a variety of artwork from well-known and up-and-coming artists. Some featured artists include Ai Weiwei, Tokujin Yoshioka, Bill Viola, and Dinh Q. Le. Although the contemporary art museum uses a rotating exhibit system rather than a permanent collection, many of the featured works are from Asian artists.
The museum was built with the intention to to bring contemporary art and culture to Roppongi. The museum strives to be a place of enjoyment, stimulation, and discussion of the arts. The museum considers itself a platform for Asian artists and exists as a platform for a wide audience from young children to senior citizens to enjoy art. The museum's open-air rooftop is perfect to relax after exploring the various artwork at the museum.
