Tokyo Edo Musum | All About the Edo Period

The Edo-Tokyo Museum is a great place to learn about the development, history, and culture of Tokyo. Established in 1993, the museum tells the story of the development of Japan's capital city Tokyo (known as Edo until 1869) through the use of displays, models, and rotating exhibits. Museum guests can enjoy displays of the original Edo Castle, exhibits on the daily life of Edo's citizens, and a full-sized replica of the Nihonbashi Bridge. While Tokyo has grown into an international hub for fashion, arts, and technology, the Edo-Tokyo Museum showcases the history of the daily life for regular citizens in Edo both before and after western influences came into Japan. The museum includes exhibits on the influence America and Europe had on the Meiji Era, the conversion from the Edo Era to the Tokyo Era, the effects of World War II, and rotating exhibits about Tokyo. The interactive museum offers tours in English, Chinese, Korean, French, German or Spanish with reservations to ensure anyone can enjoy learning the history of Edo. This museum is a great place to visit for those hoping to learn more about the unique history of Japan.
