Animate is by far one of the largest, most popular anime and manga chain stores in Japan. Animate has hundreds of anime and manga goods ranging from manga and figures to posters, stationery goods, and much more. Located in Akihabara, the home of anime and otaku culture, this branch is filled with seven floors dedicated to all things anime. No matter the level of anime fan, Animate's extensive collection of figures, cosplay goods, and collectibles are sure to captivate and intrigue guests of all ages. If you're looking for the latest releases or just want to find merchandise for your favorite anime character, chances are you'll find them in this large anime shopping mall. Each floor is subdivided to help guests navigate, split from CD & DVD sections, manga sections, video games, character goods, cosplay accessories, etc. There's even a floor dedicated to holding events where anime creators and voice actors come out for meet and greet events. Animate is one of the most popular stores to visit for all things Anime and manga, making it a must while in Akihabara.
As one of the largest anime shopping centers in Akihabara (and Tokyo), visiting Animate is a must for any anime otaku outside of Japan. While there are a few stores outside of Japan (China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, and South Korea), Animate does not have a physical store outside of Asia (there was a former animate store in Los Angeles, California until 2003). If the name Animate sounds familiar, the company also owns a film company and publishing companies as well.
