Featured Destination on Select Anime Japan Tours vacations.
During the month of March, the streets of Denden Town in Nipponbashi are closed off for the Osaka Street Anime Festa. This lively anime-themed street festival celebrates Osaka's thriving otaku and cosplay culture, featuring thousands of cosplay fanatics, music performances, vendors, and fans of anime & manga. The road is closed off and reserved for pedestrians and stalls, with many cosplay artists parading down the open street. Photos are welcome, and guests are encouraged to join in the cosplay fun. It's no secret some of Japan's best cosplay artists come to the Street Festa to show off their skills, before heading East to enjoy the thrills of AnimeJapan (both events are typically held within a week or two). The cosplay parade also features
qualifiers for the World Cosplay Summit, which makes the cosplay a must see while at the festival!
The street festival is held in Osaka's Nipponbashi neighborhood, which is often considered the Akihabara of Kansai. Along the Den Den Town, you are bound to find all things related to anime, manga, video games, technology, figurines, collectibles, books, costumes, and much more. There's plenty of cosplay to appreciate, or join the fun yourself with a quick rental from the local Animate nearby. There's also plenty of vendors to browse from, and because you're already in Osaka, be sure to give Takyoayki a shot.
Add Nipponbashi's lively Street Festa to your Anime Japan Tour in March for the ultimate cosplay experience. Make the most of your anime vacation with one of the best cosplay events Osaka has to offer!
